Spring Is Here And Gardens Are Blooming!

gardening pictureI don’t know about you but I always look forward to Spring when all the new flowers bloom and garden begins.

Two of my favorite organic products I use on my flowers and plants, both inside and outside, are Shaklee’s Basic H and Liqui-Lea.  These remarkable organic products have literally thousands of uses, but I’m only going to talk about using them to help organically nourish the soil and control those pesty unwanted flies and pests which destroy our flowers, gardens and lawns each year.

Basic H is safe for all plants and animals.  So your pets will not be harmed if they get into your flower beds or onto the lawns after spraying.  Basic H penetrates the waxy covering on flies and ticks and is an excellent organic repellant.

Gardening tips:

One of the easiest ways to apply is to use one of the plastic spray bottles attached to your garden hose to spray the following:

For flowers I recommend you mix ½ oz. of Basic H with 1 oz. of Liqui-Lea and 3 gallons of water.

Works great for tomatoes.  I recommend applying after planting using 3 oz. of Basic H with 1 oz. of Liqui-Lea and 5 gallons of water.

Lawn Care: To increase water absorption fill a sprayer with Basic H and hook to your hose. Continually spray your yard until it is gone. Repeat if necessary. It is best to do this at least four or five times a year, first in April and again in late summer.  Grubs cause a lot of problems in our lawns which also attracts moles causing damaging mole runs.  For grubs: 1 ½ quart Basic H – ½ pint basic G – 10-12 – gallons of water. Spray every 100 ft.

Dandelions: 100 sq ft – Use sprayer and garden hose with 2 quarts of Basic H – 1 bottle of Liqui-lea – ½ pint Basic G – Should be used with some form of liquid fertilizer. Apply twice a year.

For trees:  nursery stock, seedlings, or seed beds: mix 1 oz. of Basic H with 1 gallon of water. Spray on whole seedling and around entire trunk. Apply every 10 days.

    • 3-4 feet tall: Mix 1 quart of Basic H with 8 quarts of water at the base of the tree using 1 cup of this solution twice per day for the first day, then once a day until the solution is gone.

    • 4-8 ft tall: Mix 1 quart of Basic H with 6 quarts of water at the base of the tree using 1 pint of the mixture twice a day for 2 days and then 1 pint until the mixture is gone. It is recommended you do this 3 times per year.

    • 8 ft an up: Mix 1 quart of Basic H with 5 quarts of water feeding 1 quart each day until the solution is gone. It is recommended you do this 2 times a year.

    • Small Evergreens: Mix 1 oz. of Basic H with 1 gallon of water.  For nutrition, add 1 oz. of Liqui-Llea.  Apply every 10 days by spraying on whole the seedling and around entire trunk.

    • Evergreens: Add 8 oz. of Liqui-Lea to 8 ft. and up by mixing 1 quart of Basic H with 5 quarts of water. For best results feed one quart of the solution each day until gone. It is recommended you do this 2 times a year.

    • Lawn Shrubs and bushes: For any type of evergreen shrub use 1 teas. of Basic H and 1 teas. of Liqui-Lea per 1 gallon of water every 10 days.

    • Hard wood shrubs and small trees: Use ½ oz. Basic H with 1 gallon of water spraying once every 2 weeks or if insects appear.

I hope you will try Basic H and Liqui-Lea on your lawns and gardens this Spring and enjoy the fruits of your labor knowing that you and your family are safe.
