It is a known fact that today’s children are facing obesity, ADD among other health issues such as asthma, diabetes and behavioral issues. Instead of taking the time to prepare good, healthy meals at home, busy schedules force many to resort to “fast restaurant foods” and “prepared, packaged foods” forcing our children to eat due to convenience. It is no wonder they have health issues.
I just read an article called “Model Healthy Eating for Your Children” by Joel Osteen, which targets several main health issues our children face. I am sharing excerpts of this article which I think are important.
We as parents need to pay careful attention what we feed our children and what we’re filling their bodies with. Fruit drinks actually contain 90 percent pure sugar water. Our children today are constantly watching TV commercials with their favorite stars and athletes all pushing drinking colas so they will be “cool.” Many of those athletes won’t even touch that cola because they know they can’t stay at the top of their game consuming all those sugars. Neither can our kids.
A good healthy breakfast is essential for kids to be able to concentrate and be active in school. The majority of kids are fed the sugar-loaded cereals and white toast instead of a healthy breakfast of oatmeal, grains, fruit, cheeses and protein.
Don’t let your children develop poor eating habits. When you send your child a lunch to school, don’t pack it with a sandwich on white bread and some greasy potato chips and a Twinkie for dessert. Your child is not going to be at his best both physically or mentally.
They may be fine now eating the sugar, white flour and caffeine, but later on, they can develop serious illnesses due to their poor eating habits. Their immune systems are compromised and they catch a cold, develop asthma, become obese, diabetic and have heart disease and attention deficit problems, causing poor health, low self-esteem and bad grades.
By replacing all the colas and fruit drinks with unsweetened juice and water, and totally eliminating the jelly donuts and sweetened cereals in the morning, in exchange with fruits, peanuts, oatmeal, cheese and protein, significant improvement in kids behavior will be noticed in a short period of time.
I mentioned attention deficit disorder, which makes kids hyper and over stimulated. We tend to medicate them and change them with chemicals instead of paying attention to their diet. We need to make sure they’re getting the right nutrition. One study showed 75 percent of the children had a problem with their blood sugar. That’s the root cause. We can medicate them all day long, but if we start treating the source rather than the symptom, then the problem can be corrected and our children will be much healthier. When we give our children healthy food to eat, it not only gives them the right type of good energy, but it also gives them a sharper mind and greater mental capacity. Thus, their grades and self-esteem will improve.
I can’t stress enough the importance of starting your kid’s day with Zija’s SmartMix.
